We do not have an account system.
There is nothing to sign up for here. You cannot create an account and we do not run a newsletter. The contact page has a form, and what it does is send us an email through an email delivery service: your name, your email address, the dates you give and your message reach our inbox, and nothing from it is added to a database or a mailing list. Writing to the email address directly does exactly the same thing.
This site is a search over the booking partner's live inventory and a set of pages about driving in Gran Canaria. Neither needs an account.
The booking search.
The search and the booking flow are provided by our rental booking partner and run inside our pages. When you use them, that partner receives what you type into the search: the pick-up point, the dates, and then, if you go on to book, the details a rental needs, which include your name, contact details and payment information. That information goes to them and to the supplier holding your car, because those are the parties who have to act on it. It does not come back to us.
Their software sets cookies in your browser so that a search you start on one page still makes sense on the next.
Measurement.
We use Google Analytics to count visits and to see which pages are read and which parts of the booking flow people abandon. It is configured to answer questions about pages rather than about people: we look at how many readers a page has, not at what any individual did. The events we record are the ordinary ones, that a search was submitted, that the booking widget loaded, that a visitor reached the checkout step. Google Analytics sets its own cookies to do this. We do not send your name or your email to it.
If you would rather not be counted at all, browser-level tracking protection and the usual blocking extensions work here as they do anywhere else, and nothing on this site is designed to work around them. Nothing on the site breaks if analytics is blocked; the search, the prices and the pages all work exactly the same.
What the site itself stores in your browser.
Your choice of the light or the dark version of the site. That preference is written to your browser's own local storage under a single key so the page does not flash the wrong colour scheme on your next visit. It never leaves your device, it is not sent to us, and clearing your browser data removes it. If you have never touched the toggle, the site follows the light or dark setting your device already uses.
What we hold, and for how long.
Emails you send us, for as long as the conversation is useful and then no longer. Aggregate analytics about pages, held under Google Analytics' own retention settings. Nothing else, because there is nothing else to hold. We do not sell data, we do not build marketing profiles, and we do not pass your details to anyone beyond the booking partner and supplier who need them to give you a car.
If you have made a booking and want to know what is held about it, or want it corrected or deleted, the party to ask is the booking partner whose system took your booking, because that is where the booking record lives. If you would rather start with us, write to info@grancanariacarhire.com and we will point you at the right place and help where we can.
