How do distance and time compare?

Routed from the airport, Roque Nublo is 50.9 km and 66 minutes away, and Puerto de Mogan 54.8 km and 45 minutes. Teror is 36.7 km and 44 minutes; Agaete is 55.6 km and 54 minutes.

The Roque Nublo route averages about 46 km/h, and the Puerto de Mogan route about 73 km/h. Tejeda's town centre is at 1,050 m, Artenara's at 1,270 m, and Pico de las Nieves at 1,949 m.

Four routes worth giving a day to.

The routes start on the south coast, in Las Palmas and in Teror.

One: the south coast and the harbour town.

Maspalomas to Puerto Rico is 18.1 km and 21 minutes, Puerto Rico to Arguineguin 6.1 km and 9 minutes, and Puerto Rico to Puerto de Mogan 11.3 km and 17 minutes. Maspalomas to Puerto de Mogan direct is 24.3 km and 26 minutes. The GC-500, the old Carretera General del Sur, runs this coast from El Doctoral to Taurito, and the GC-1 reaches Puerto de Mogan at exit 68.

Puerto de Mogan, Puerto Rico and Arguineguin are in the municipality of Mogan. The Mogan market is held every Friday from 9:00 to 14:00 at the Explanada del Castillete in Puerto de Mogan. With car hire in Puerto Rico, the car is delivered to your address there; for hiring at the airport first, the drive from the airport to Puerto Rico is 48.6 km and 39 minutes.

Two: Tejeda and Roque Nublo.

Roque Nublo is a Monumento Natural in the municipality of Tejeda. Parking around it is prohibited. Since 3 February 2025 the Degollada de la Goleta car park has had no spaces, and drivers park in Tejeda town or at Cruz de los Llanos. A Global shuttle runs a circular route every 30 minutes from 9:30 to 18:00; it takes about 30 minutes from Tejeda and about 10 from Cruz de los Llanos.

Access to trail S-70 from Degollada de la Goleta needs a prior booking at grancanariasenderos.com, limited to 60 people an hour. Maspalomas to Tejeda is 50.6 km and 81 minutes by the GC-60, and Playa del Ingles to Tejeda 48.5 km and 77 minutes; the rules for driving a hire car here limit it to paved public roads. Global line 18 runs between the Faro de Maspalomas and the Roque Nublo trailhead three times a day.

Three: Teror, Agaete and the green north.

From Las Palmas centre, Teror is 20.7 km and 31 minutes, and Agaete 33.1 km and 35 minutes. Teror's centre is at 543 m, and its basilica of the Virgen del Pino is a Bien de Interés Cultural. In Agaete, Puerto de las Nieves is a fishing village with natural pools.

Agaete to Teror is 36.0 km and 45 minutes. The GC-2 runs from Las Palmas along the north coast, and parts of it are two lanes each way with roundabouts and traffic lights rather than full motorway.

Four: across the middle, coast to coast.

Teror to Roque Nublo is 33.5 km and 53 minutes by road, and Roque Nublo to Maspalomas 42.3 km and 65 minutes. Parking around Roque Nublo is prohibited, so a stop there means the Tejeda or Cruz de los Llanos car parks and the shuttle.

Puerto de Mogan to Agaete routes at 107.8 km and 93 minutes. The GC-200 on the west coast between them closes after rockfalls: the Gobierno de Canarias opened the Faneque tunnels on 9 February 2024 to bypass 3 km of it, and closures were reported in December 2025 and March 2026. What should you check on the car for a driving week?
